Why are tattoos so expensive?

3/4/2019

Have you ever wondered why Tattoos are so expensive? Most people fail to understand that a lot a labor goes into these pieces. When you are getting a tattoo at La Mancha, we do the impossible to give you a one-of-a-kind piece.
Every time we design a tattoo we design your tattoo from scratch. Consultations are always free, when people come in for a consultation, it generally takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. This is just to get all the small details in check. What most people don’t get to see is how long it takes to design the tattoo. Sometimes these pieces take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to put together and often goes uncompensated.
Picture yourself showing up to work, doing two hours of continuous work without breaks and then clocking in. After you’ve worked two hours for free. Is that something you would you do? The design doesn’t magically show up on paper or on skin you know? A lot of effort goes into each design, research , art material etc. Don’t get me wrong some people like to tip while others acknowledge the extra work that went into the peace and just say thank you. Some don’t even do that. With the art out of the way just keep in mind that’s the biggest part of the tattoo. Without it there is no tattoo. Next up is the materials used for the tattoo procedure, this includes eat caps others use in trees which are pretty expensive disposable tubes which are also pretty pricey and of course the new trend of using cartridge needles instead of the standard needle, cartridge needles generally cost about three times as much as the regular needles. People don’t see that in our expenses. Being able to deliver the best tattoo possible requires the best materials possible including Ink or pigments, we won’t ever skimp out on quality Ink. We buy the best because we know that better materials will give us better everlasting tattoos. next up is the after care, we were at each tattoo with the best bandage on the market today. Bandage is guaranteed to heal the tattoo by itself leaving no room for error for the client. We spend an extra chunk of money to make sure that these bandages are applied on each tattoo. We don’t just allow you to walk out with a basic plastic wrap or paper towel for you to remove in an hour or two. We will leave you with a safe bandage that can stay on for a whole seven days, allowing your tattoo to heal beautifully with no scabbing or flaking of any kind. We go the extra mile to ensure that each tattoo comes out in top form. We guarantee all of our pieces, if we can’t guarantee will let you know before we do it this normally involves finger tattoos. Some people charge by the piece while others charge by the hour, we like to charge by the hour because your tattoo is important to you and us. Each tattoo that comes out of our shop is a reflection of everyone here. Those who would charge by the piece are more interested in the person after you always keep that in mind. They often finish fast so that they could get started on the next one and try to make more money. That’s fine if you want to settle for something quick. But when you’re looking for top-of-the-line and you don’t want to settle for mediocre, you come to us.
